Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won was found to have registered the son of Judge Jeong, who dismissed the arrest warrant for former Jenesel founder, as a legislative assistant in his office for three months. Kim nominee explained the legislative assistant system and hiring procedures at the request of Chief Justice Jeong, and Jeong received 1 million won per month for research work. Kim's side refuted the controversy over 'favoritism', saying that there was no causal relationship between the dismissal of the warrant and Jeong's employment as a legislative assistant, and explained that Jeong helped with legislative activities. However, controversy is expected as explanations about the past relationship between Kim nominee and Chief Justice Jeong are inconsistent.
