The Bank of Korea announced that as a result of analyzing the impact of interest rate hikes on households, 'high-debt housing acquisition households' with many housing purchase loans are most vulnerable to interest rate fluctuations and have a high possibility of spreading credit risk within households. In particular, households with low incomes and self-employed and corporate representative households also showed high interest rate sensitivity. The Bank of Korea analyzed that if the debt service ratio (DSR) exceeds 46%, it will lead to a decrease in consumption, and emphasized the need to pay attention to the delinquency risk of high-debt housing acquisition households, the possibility of credit risk transfer among household members, and the high debt repayment burden of low-income households.
