Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of the Iranian parliament, emphasized that the era of proportionate response is over following a military clash with the United States. He warned that any future US infringement on Iran would be met with "faster, heavier, and more painful" retaliation. He argued that Iran's recent military operation against US bases was just the beginning and accused the US of attempting to manipulate the war situation using artificial intelligence. Ghalibaf urged for internal unity and external deterrence, stressing the need to rely on domestic production even amidst economic hardship to block foreign influence. The US claimed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran fired ballistic missiles at a US Navy ship and retaliated by attacking three Iranian oil tankers.
