"Will Reveal the Truth and Prove Innocence"

Rep. Kwon Sung-dong of the People Power Party, who was arrested on suspicion of receiving 100 million won in illegal political funds from the Unification Church, reiterated his innocence through a letter sent to party members, saying "I will surely reveal the truth and prove my innocence."
Rep. Kwon stated this through a letter from prison sent to People Power Party members yesterday (the 29th), saying "Just as the Moon Jae-in administration could not bring me down, the Lee Jae-myung administration will never be able to destroy me."
He continued, "However, my greater concern than my personal grievance is the storm of repression that will come upon my party and comrades. If my sacrifice as one person eases the wind of persecution against the opposition party, I will gladly endure it," while also saying "But the Democratic Party, like a pack of sharks that have caught the scent of blood, will rush at the People Power Party even more ruthlessly."
He added, "Now is the time when we must unite and gather our wisdom and determination," saying "If the People Power Party comes together with one heart and one mind, the values of conservatism will never collapse no matter what political storm sweeps through."
Rep. Kwon emphasized, "I will soon return to your side with the truth."
He was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of receiving 100 million won in illegal political funds from the Unification Church for the purpose of requesting action on pending matters. The arrest consent bill passed the National Assembly plenary session on the 11th, and the court issued an arrest warrant on the 17th.
