Forty prosecutors dispatched to the special investigation team led by Special Prosecutor Min Jung-ki, which is investigating allegations related to First Lady Kim Keon-hee, have requested to return to their original positions. The dispatched prosecutors argue that it is inappropriate for them to handle direct investigations, prosecutions, and appellate work in the special investigation despite the recent dissolution of the Prosecutor's Office resulting in the loss of prosecutors' direct investigative authority over serious crimes. The dispatched prosecutors have requested that Special Prosecutor Min Jung-ki provide an official position on the role of prosecutors and the necessity of direct investigations, prosecutions, and appellate work. They hope to return to the frontlines upon swift conclusion of the case and participate in handling civil livelihood cases.
