Prabowo Subianto has been inaugurated as the new president of Indonesia. After winning the election, he pledged to become a "president for all Indonesians." Prabowo, a former defense minister, lost two previous presidential elections to Joko Widodo, but this time he won with Widodo's support and by selecting Widodo's son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as his vice presidential candidate. He has promised policies for economic growth and poverty reduction, and aims to gain public support particularly through a free meal program. Prabowo is expected to take a more active stance in foreign policy.
