According to industry sources on the 1st, Samsung Electronics recently placed an order for a mainboard equipped with the Exynos 2700 for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. It is understood that the System LSI Business Division and MX (Mobile Experience) Business Division have pre-coordinated for the supply of Exynos as they are entering the actual development stage. This is a two-track approach, maintaining the development of existing Snapdragon-equipped models while adding an Exynos version.
Previously, Samsung Electronics planned to apply only the Exynos 2700 to the general, plus, and pro models of the Galaxy S27 series in some global markets such as Korea and Europe. With the Ultra model being included in the supply target this time, it has become possible for all models of the Galaxy S27 series to be equipped with Exynos. However, in countries like the United States, the Ultra model is expected to be equipped with Snapdragon as originally planned.
With the Exynos being mounted on a flagship model for the first time in five years since the launch of the Galaxy S22 in 2022, the possibility of expanding the supply of mobile APs by Samsung Electronics' System LSI Business Division has also increased. An industry insider said, "It is unusual that the Exynos version was added at a time when most of the main development process with Snapdragon has been completed," and added, "This means there are high expectations for its own AP."
