The retired Italian aircraft carrier 'Giuseppe Garibaldi' is heading to Indonesia, making Indonesia the second country in Southeast Asia to own an aircraft carrier. The Indonesian Navy plans to rename the Garibaldi (full load displacement of approximately 14,000 tons), which will be donated free of charge by the Italian government, as 'KRI Gadjah Mada', and an official handover ceremony is scheduled for September 25th. Indonesia is expected to invest about 1.3 trillion won in the introduction of the aircraft carrier, along with the repair of aging warships and system construction.
