A national discussion has been held on how to use escalators. Although there has been a long debate between 'standing in one line' and 'standing in two lines', recent public opinion polls have shown that both methods receive approximately 50% support. Experts explain that it is desirable to stand still rather than walk or run on the escalator for safety, and emphasize that efficiency can vary depending on the location and time of day. As a result of the discussion, there was a higher preference for the 'two-line standing and stopping boarding' method. The Ministry of Public Administration and Security plans to develop policies to improve escalator safety culture based on the opinions raised at this forum.
