Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae expressed regret for causing inconvenience to the people after the Blue House effectively rejected the nomination of Son Bong-ki and demanded a re-nomination. Son Bong-ki was nominated as the successor to former Chief Justice Noh Tae-ak, but due to the failure to reach a final agreement between the Blue House and the judiciary, his nomination has been delayed for more than half a year. Although four candidates were recommended by the Recommendation Committee last January, the Blue House and the judiciary failed to agree on the final candidate. Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae is expected to officially announce his position on the re-nomination request and the possibility of reorganizing the Recommendation Committee by next week.
