The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force successfully conducted its first test launch of the US Tomahawk cruise missile through the Aegis destroyer "Chokai". The Tomahawk has a range of 1,600~2,500km and puts North Korea, China, Russia, etc. within its range. Japan plans to introduce 400 Tomahawks from the United States by next year, and this test launch is an important step in securing "counterattack capability". Next month, the largest-ever joint exercise "Orient Shield" will be held with the US and Australia, and the US's latest medium-range missile system "Typhoon" will participate. China and others consider Japan's military buildup a threat and are pushing back.
