Ukraine's new Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi has requested Japan provide the Patriot missile system, a ballistic missile interception system. He emphasized that this would protect citizens and power infrastructure and help solve heating problems during the winter. Ukraine also sought cooperation for post-war recovery by utilizing the infrastructure and energy development experience of Japanese companies. However, the Japanese government currently prohibits the export of lethal weapons to countries in conflict as a principle, making it difficult to provide interception missiles. The Japanese government's position is that 'it is not considering providing weapons to Ukraine at this time'.
