MartinLogan Depth 215 : The Ultimate Subwoofer with a 15-Inch Dual Woofer and 2,200W

To celebrate the revival of its legendary Depth subwoofer series, MartinLogan has unveiled the Depth 215, a true audio monster, in addition to the Depth 212 model already introduced in our column. This top-of-the-line subwoofer features two massive 38cm(!) speakers and a total of 2,200W RMS dual amplifiers, pushing all boundaries to shake your home theater room.
While the company bet on versatility with the Depth 212 model, MartinLogan designed a true sound giant for consumers seeking physical impact and absolute dynamics with the Depth 215. This subwoofer features two massive 15"(38cm) active woofers facing each other, along with the brand's renowned BalancedForce architecture, making no compromises.
This mechanical force cancellation system allows for the complete blocking of energy transfer to the massive cabinet (with a variable thickness from 1" to 3"). As a result, despite its staggering weight of 78.5kg, it boasts absolute mechanical stability. Yes, really!

MartinLogan Depth 215, the Absolute Ruler of the 20-30Hz Range
To powerfully drive these two massive speakers, the Depth 215 relies on a muscular structure based on dual Class D amplifiers with an astonishing output of 2,200W RMS (peak 4,400W). Taking advantage of its generous internal volume, it effortlessly reaches down to 18Hz (±3dB) without breaking a sweat. This true subwoofer delivers the ideal authority and stability for home theaters, reproducing the critical range of 20-30Hz with astonishing power.

To control this immense energy with minimal distortion, the woofer utilizes shock-absorbing fiberglass and a new triple structure Carbon Aerocore diaphragm (a lightweight PMI foam structure made from a high-strength carbon fiber composite material). The speaker's design goes one step further with a cast aluminum chassis, triple venting (spider, voice coil, core below), and dual copper braid rings. Meanwhile, the electronics rely on a very powerful 64-bit Vojtko DSP processor (500MHz) compatible with reference acoustic calibration ARC Genesis (a calibration microphone is included).

MartinLogan Depth 215, Invisible Cooling System and Hidden Touch Interface
To maintain a single, cohesive aesthetic befitting its stature, engineers completely redesigned the rear of the subwoofer. The amplifier and all connection terminals (XLR, RCA, high level, wireless) are hidden (see photo below).

Quiet cooling is achieved through convection thanks to the excellent extruded aluminum profile that acts as a heatsink (see photo above). On the front, lightly pressing below the backlit MartinLogan logo reveals an LED touch panel where all control functions are gathered (see photo below), and this can also be accessed remotely via the Bluetooth smartphone application MartinLogan Control.

Scheduled to be released at the end of August with a gloss black (black lacquer) finish.
Expected price: 8,580 euros.
