At least 53 inmates escaped from Kutacane Prison in Aceh Province, Indonesia on March 10. The inmates broke through main facility doors, ran across roofs, and jumped among nearby shopkeepers as they fled. So far, 21 have surrendered or been recaptured, but 32 remain on the run. The incident appears to be connected to prison overcrowding issues. The prison has a capacity of 100 inmates but currently holds approximately 368 inmates.
