150 employees of the Bank of Korea are using a total of KRW 6 billion in housing loans as of the end of the first half. The loan interest rate is 3.5% per annum, which is lower than the average interest rate (4.3% per annum) for new housing mortgage loans from deposit banks. The Bank of Korea provides up to KRW 50 million in housing loans to employees who have worked for more than one year without a house, and this is not reflected in the calculation of the Debt Service Ratio (DSR), unlike general financial institution loans. As a result, there are concerns that if internal loans are used and then additional loans from financial institutions are received, the actual debt burden will not be fully reflected, leading to fairness issues. Recently, with the government's strong regulations on household loans, it is pointed out that the Bank of Korea's internal loan operations could raise fairness issues compared to ordinary citizens.
