Democratic Party candidate Kim Min-seok, Jeong Cheong-rae, and Song Young-gil participated in a TV debate held at KBC Gwangju Broadcasting to win the hearts of Honam people. Candidate Kim Min-seok emphasized that he is a direct political figure of President Kim Dae-jung and promised the development of Honam. Candidate Jeong Cheong-rae mentioned that Honam is the center of the democratization movement and proposed to promote regional economic revitalization by creating a semiconductor cluster. Candidate Song Young-gil expressed confidence in promoting the semiconductor investment project as a native of Goheung, Jeollanam-do, and promised to foster new future industries in Haenam and Naju based on his experience in creating a bio cluster during his time as Mayor of Incheon. All three candidates presented pledges for the development of the Honam region and strived to win the hearts of Honam people to win the party representative election.
