A public official A, belonging to South Chungcheong Province, surrendered to the police on suspicion of embezzling 1.25 billion won in local subsidies that should have been paid to farms after being dispatched to Dangjin City. Mr. A has been covering up funds by depositing some of the subsidies back into the subsidy account. In connection with this incident, South Chungcheong Province plans to inspect the management and supervision system for local subsidies and investigate the entire process from disbursement to execution, settlement, and post-management. It also plans to request functional improvements to the subsidy management system 'Botem e' to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security and conduct on-site inspections by selecting projects with a high possibility of improper execution. South Chungcheong Province will take measures such as recovery of subsidies, cancellation of disbursement, and restriction on the implementation of future subsidy projects if any irregularities are confirmed.
