After the June 3 local elections, the Central Election Management Committee (CEMC) released data on voter turnout, showing that more than half of the 3,558 townships and villages nationwide had discrepancies between the final number of voters and the number of voters tallied at polling stations. In particular, in Gongdo-eup, Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province, the final number of voters decreased by about 30% compared to the on-site tally, while in Gwangan 1-dong, Suyeong District, Busan, it increased by more than 10%, showing significant regional differences. Despite the CEMC's argument that its time-based voter turnout data is provisional, these discrepancies are considered a serious problem because they are an important indicator affecting the trend of voter turnout on election day. The Joint Investigation Headquarters for Election Crimes is investigating whether any false entries or manipulations occurred during the CEMC's reconnection process of the electronic voting system after the election.
