Discussions are underway to revise the electric vehicle purchase subsidy system. As the popularity of electric vehicles increases, the financial burden on local governments is growing, and regulations requiring local funds to account for more than 30% of national subsidies will be reviewed. The government plans to increase the amount of subsidies supported next year, but concerns are also being raised about the resulting increase in the financial burden on local governments. In particular, Gyeonggi Province's recent declaration of a fiscal crisis is further highlighting these problems. Additionally, the Ministry of Environment plans to review the appropriateness of subsidy unit prices by vehicle type and intends to work hard to develop support measures for subsidies for large electric cargo trucks.
