Since the implementation of the Act on Support for Victims of Lease Fraud in June 2023, the cumulative number of victims has reached 42,780 as of July. Most of the damage is below 300 million won, and there is a tendency for damage to be concentrated in multi-family houses and officetels in the metropolitan area. 59.6% of lease fraud victims have been recognized as victims, and Korea Land & Housing Corporation has purchased 12,560 victimized housing units so far and is providing them to victims as public rental housing. Tenants who have suffered from lease fraud can apply for victim determination at the city or province where they reside, and if recognized, they can receive support measures guidance from the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation.
