Rep. Kwon Young-jin of the People Power Party resigned from 'Alternatives and Future,' a gathering of pro-party members, after disciplinary action began against him by the party ethics committee due to the 'choking controversy.' Rep. Kwon apologized for his reckless remarks that had caused harm to Alternatives and Future and said he would take time for introspection and self-reflection. Alternatives and Future have been demanding the resignation of Rep. Jang Dong-hyeok since the June 3 local elections defeat, and are using Rep. Kwon's choking controversy as an opportunity to launch a counteroffensive. In addition, Rep. Seo Beom-soo, also a member of Alternatives and Future, has been embroiled in controversy over his remarks about 'kicking back.' Alternatives and Future plan to continue holding meetings on the theme of party renewal and reform from mid-month.
