After 72 years, the National Assembly passed an amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act that completely abolishes the prosecution's supplementary investigative powers. This means that judicial police officers will be in charge of investigations and public prosecutors will handle indictments, with the Central Investigation Agency specializing in serious crime investigations. However, concerns are being raised about "opening the door" due to insufficient organizational structure and division of labor between the Central Investigation Agency and the Public Prosecutors' Office. In particular, the low rate of prosecutor transfers and delays in revising subordinate laws have led to suggestions that the normal launch time for the Central Investigation Agency and the Public Prosecutors' Office may need to be postponed.
