The National Assembly passed an amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act that completely abolishes the direct and supplementary investigative powers of prosecutors. The presidential office said it respects the National Assembly's legislative process and final judgment, and expects this amendment to contribute to preventing the monopolization and abuse of power and raising the level of protection of victims' and citizens' human rights. It also promised to do its best to ensure that there are no obstacles in the implementation of the amended act.
