Many shopping malls are now installing high fences to regulate the flow of visitors entering and exiting and to increase security. The Chairman of APPBI Alphonzus Widjaja explained that these fences aim to prevent visitors from entering and exiting from any point that could endanger traffic. The installation of these fences is not new in Indonesia, and it is often implemented in malls located in city centers and which have the potential to become demonstration locations. Iron fences are considered one of the security measures to minimize the risk of security disturbances during demonstrations. Some examples of malls that have installed high fences are Kota Kasablanka in Jakarta and several malls owned by the Pakuwon Group in Surabaya.
