According to a survey by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, half of those who have experienced breakups reported experiencing violence from their spouse or partner before and after the breakup. In particular, women had a higher rate of stalking victimization before the breakup, and both men and women were likely to experience one or more types of violence - physical, sexual, economic, or emotional - during the breakup process. However, 68.5% of violence victims did not take any specific action, and less than 20% sought help from outside sources. Based on these survey results, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family plans to address domestic violence issues by strengthening various policies, including appropriate punishment for perpetrators.
