President Lee Jae-myung emphasized the need to revise the Korea-Chile FTA ahead of his visit to Chile. His argument is that FTAs should be modernized in line with changes in the global economic paradigm, such as digital trade and AI. He added that social values such as labor standards and gender equality should be included. He also revealed plans to cooperate on stabilizing the supply chain of key minerals by combining Chile's abundant lithium and copper reserves with Korea's stable demand and advanced industrial technology. The two countries are expected to sign an MOU on mineral resource partnership during this visit.
