A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, causing an explosion at a large shopping mall that resulted in two deaths and one person being transported in cardiac arrest. Additionally, part of a chimney collapsed at a Japanese paper mill, leaving two people in cardiac arrest and nine employees unreachable. The earthquake caused damage such as house collapses, power outages, and water supply disruptions in Kumamoto Prefecture, with approximately 47,000 people evacuating. The Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that there are no Korean casualties so far.
