Graffiti on Busan Metro Train Cars
The whereabouts of two suspects who unlawfully entered the Busan Metro vehicle depot, drew graffiti (street art drawn like vandalism), and fled remain unknown.
According to the Gangseo Police Station in Busan on the 25th, graffiti drawn on one train car was discovered on the morning of the 23rd at 4:38 AM at the Daejeo Vehicle Depot of Busan Transportation Corporation in Gangseo-gu, Busan.
According to CCTV footage provided by the company, the suspects entered through a fence in the direction of the test run line within the depot at 2:51 AM on the same day, left graffiti, and left the scene at 3:09 AM about 10 minutes later.
The Daejeo Vehicle Depot of Busan Transportation Corporation where the incident occurred is a restricted access area, and entry is not permitted without prior authorization.
Their unauthorized entry occurred during a gap that arose shortly after security personnel patrolled the area of the vehicle depot.
A company official said, "It appears to have been meticulously prepared in advance, not an impulsive intrusion."
Although four days have passed since the incident occurred, police are currently having difficulty identifying the suspects.
Initially, it was believed that one man and one woman committed the crime, but their genders have not been confirmed at this time.
They thoroughly concealed their identities by wearing hoods pulled over their heads and wearing masks during the crime.
There is a possibility that the suspect may be a foreigner, but it is known that measures to prevent their departure are difficult without specific personal information.
A police official stated, "The suspects are changing clothes multiple times during their movements and using cash," and added, "We are doing our best to pursue the suspects by mobilizing all available personnel."
Previously, in September 2022, two foreigners also unlawfully entered the Sinpyeong and Hopo Vehicle Operations Center using similar methods and left graffiti on the exterior of Lines 1 and 2 train cars.
At that time, one perpetrator was forcibly extradited from Romania to the country through an Interpol red notice. The company recovered 7.6 million won in damages, including barbed wire repairs, train car restoration, and vehicle depreciation.
