The People Power Party criticized on the 27th that President Yoon Suk Yeol's remarks, "We may have to prepare an additional budget (extraordinary budget) but GPUs will be increasingly needed," are an attempt to use AI as another excuse for spending.
Park Sung-hoon, senior spokesperson for the People Power Party, said in a commentary on the 27th, "President Yoon hinted at the preparation of a second extraordinary budget while touting AI. He is starting a spree of 'cash handouts' using AI as an excuse."
He added, "If temporary excess tax revenue is expected, it is common sense to use it to reduce national debt and restore fiscal soundness," but "President Yoon seems obsessed with the idea of pouring money into the economy for political gain. Is the national budget his personal piggy bank?"
"As his approval rating plummets, he seems to be trying to overcome the political crisis by scattering taxpayers' money," Park said. He also criticized it as a "vile trick" to win public support through "money-throwing."
He emphasized that "AI competitiveness is not built through one-time extraordinary budgets but through long-term investment and regulatory innovation."
