The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has terminated its contract with coach Shin Tae-yong, who led the Indonesian national team for six years. PSSI chairman Eric Thohir explained that the decision was made after careful deliberation following a defeat to China in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifier. The official reasons cited for the dismissal include issues with match strategy and communication between coaches and players. Chairman Eric has selected a new coach as Shin Tae-yong's successor and announced an official announcement scheduled for January 12.
