AMD is reportedly actively considering re-releasing some of its previous generation AM4 processors to address the shortage and price increase of memory (RAM).
According to foreign media reports on the 7th, David McAfee, AMD Ryzen product manager, recently said in an interview that "we are very aggressively pushing for the re-release of AM4 chips based on the Zen 3 architecture."
The AM4 socket, which was launched in 2016 and will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, is a platform exclusively for DDR4 memory. Unlike DDR5, which has seen a sharp price increase recently, DDR4 has maintained relatively stable supply and pricing, making it a realistic alternative to reduce the burden of memory supply and demand.
Therefore, if AMD re-releases new AM4 chips, existing AM4 users will be able to upgrade their performance without replacing their memory, and consumers looking to build new systems will also be able to choose cost-effective systems with significantly reduced RAM costs.
