Microsoft (MS) is pushing a strong generational shift strategy ahead of the official end of support for Windows 10 in October 2025, but the market's response is going in the opposite direction. As of December 2025, the market share of Windows 10 is actually increasing in an unusual phenomenon.
Foreign media cite Microsoft's AI-centric strategy failing to translate into real user experience and ongoing controversy over the quality of Windows updates as the background for this "reverse" phenomenon.
Overseas media PC World said, "2025 was a nightmare year for Microsoft overall," adding that "ambitious AI projects failed to achieve clear results in the market, and poor Windows updates weakened trust."
