Taiwan market research firm TrendForce has forecast that general DRAM prices will surge by as much as 60% in the first quarter of 2026 due to a worsening memory supply shortage.
According to TrendForce's latest report, contract prices for general DRAM in the first quarter of 2026 are expected to rise by 55-60% compared to the previous quarter, while NAND flash prices are also projected to increase by 33-38%.
The key driver behind the price surge is cited as a structural realignment of production lines due to the expansion of the AI server market. As memory manufacturers concentrate advanced processes and new production capacity on high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and server DRAM, which are more profitable, the supply of general DRAM for PCs and mobile devices is rapidly decreasing.
