Spotify announced on the 15th (local time) through its official blog that it "will send an email notification about the price update to premium membership subscribers in the United States, Estonia, and Latvia by next month."

According to the email content, the monthly subscription fee will increase from $11.99 (approximately 17,700 won) to $12.99 (19,100 won) starting next month in the United States.

However, Spotify has not raised its subscription fees since launching its service in Korea in February 2021. Currently at 11,900 won, it is also excluded from the regions subject to this increase. It appears that the company has refrained from raising subscription fees for the purpose of securing users.

Meanwhile, Spotify signed a strategic partnership with Naver last year and is providing Naver Plus membership subscribers with access to Spotify Premium Basic (8,690 won per month) without additional charges. The industry believes that Spotify will likely continue its market share expansion strategy in Korea by focusing on partnerships and promotions rather than price increases for the foreseeable future.
