Samsung Wide Fold to Produce 1 Million Units This Year
According to parts industry sources on the 27th, Samsung Electronics plans to produce an initial quantity of about 1 million units for its Wide Fold and shared this plan with its partners.
The Wide Fold is expected to feature a 7.6-inch foldable organic light-emitting diode (OLED) with a 4:3 aspect ratio, making it longer horizontally when unfolded. The external screen is 5.4 inches.
1 million units is the largest quantity among special models that Samsung will release over three years from 2024, drawing attention. It is interpreted as a strategic product prepared not just for lineup diversification but also for sales expansion.
Samsung's annual foldable new product shipments are in the mid-5 million range. It is known that it exceeded 6 million units last year due to the popularity of the Fold7. With the launch of the Wide Fold this year, foldable phone shipments are expected to increase further.
