The Steam Hardware blog was launched on November 12th to specifically address topics related to Steam Hardware after announcing three new hardware products. This post aims to share answers to the most frequently asked questions we've received.
Before diving into hardware-related questions, let's first address the two most common inquiries: release date and price>.
When we announced our hardware products last November, we anticipated being able to share specific pricing and release dates around this time. However, the industry-wide shortage of memory chips and hard drives has rapidly intensified since then. Due to the supply shortages and price increases for these critical components, we are reevaluating the precise shipping timelines and pricing (particularly for the Steam Machine and Steam Deck).
Our goal remains to launch all three products in the first half of this year. We are continuing the necessary work to finalize pricing and release dates while acknowledging that the situation surrounding them can change rapidly. We will strive to confirm pricing and release dates as soon as possible and provide updates whenever we can.
We plan to continue posting on this blog, covering in-depth analyses of specific features (in video and blog formats), as well as information about updates and 'new features'. However, we thought it would be helpful to first share answers to the most frequently asked questions about the new hardware.
