Claude Sonnet 4.6 is the best Sonnet model yet. The model's capabilities have been significantly upgraded across the board, including coding, computer use, long context inference, agent planning, knowledge work, and design. Additionally, Sonnet 4.6 offers a 1 million token context window as a beta version.
For both free and pro plan users, Claude Sonnet 4.6 is now set as the default model on claude.ai and Claude Cowork. Pricing remains the same as Sonnet 4.5, starting at $3/15 (input/output) per 1 million tokens.
Sonnet 4.6 provides significantly improved coding capabilities to more users. Improvements in consistency and adherence to instructions have led developers who participated in early access to overwhelmingly prefer Sonnet 4.6 over previous models. In fact, many even preferred it to Claude Opus 4.5, our most intelligent model released in November 2025.
