Samsung Electronics, which became the first in the world to mass-produce the 6th generation high bandwidth memory 'HBM4', is expected to price it at $700 per unit (approximately KRW 1.01 million).
According to foreign news outlets and domestic reports on the 20th, Samsung Electronics is negotiating with major customers to set the HBM4 price about 30% higher than its predecessor, HBM3E, at around $700 per unit.
In particular, HBM4 stably implemented an operating speed of 11.7Gbps, which is about 46% higher than the JEDEC standard (8Gbps). This is about 1.22 times higher than the maximum pin speed of its predecessor, HBM3E, which was 9.6Gbps. The industry expects that speeds up to 13Gbps may be achievable.
Foreign news outlets analyzed that if Samsung Electronics supplies HBM4 at around $700 per unit, the operating profit margin of the product could reach 50~60%.
