Anthropic, which made its presence known by causing a plunge in software (SW) company stock prices with the release of Claude Cowork last month, is launching a full-scale market offensive.
By showcasing functions that link essential corporate tools such as Excel and PowerPoint, it aims to expand beyond a simple chatbot into core business areas.
Anthropic released an update on February 24th that strengthens the plugin management system and connector function of Claude Cowork. This revision focuses on enhancing the plugin construction and management system and expanding the connector ecosystem. Multi-app work functions, exceeding Excel and PowerPoint, were also introduced in research preview form. [Omitted]
The connector ecosystem has expanded to cover both financial and general business areas. Google Workspace (Calendar, Drive, Gmail), DocuSign, Apollo, Clay, Outreach, SimilarWeb, MSCI, LegalZoom, FactSet, WordPress, Harvey, etc. have been added. Slack, LSEG, S&P Global, Apollo, CommonRoom, and Trive AI have separately built plugins for shared customers.
In the financial sector, dedicated plugins and institutional data connectors were released together. Job-specific plugins are provided for financial analysis, investment banking, stock research, private equity funds, and asset management. The FactSet connector supports real-time market data and fundamental analysis, while the MSCI connector enables access to index data. S&P Global and LSEG also introduced their own data-based plugins.
The Excel and PowerPoint work function is provided as a research preview. Claude can handle multi-step tasks, such as analyzing results and converting them into presentation materials while maintaining context between the two office applications. However, this function is currently offered in the research stage for paid plan users only.
Industry analysts say that competition in enterprise AI is shifting from model performance to integration and operational capabilities.
