The PvP shooter game Highguard, which had many problems shortly after its release, has reached the end of its service. Developer Wildlight Entertainment announced today that the next update will be the last update and that the service will end on March 12th.
Wildlight said in a statement posted on X, "Over 2 million players have experienced the world of Highguard since its launch." "Thank you for sharing your feedback, creating content, and believing in what we wanted to create."
"Despite the passion and hard work of our team, we were unable to build a sustainable player base to support the game long-term. The servers will continue to operate until March 12th. We hope you will connect one last time to show your support and enjoy a final great match while we can still provide service."
It's an unfortunate ending, but not a surprising one. Wildlight had already laid off "most of its staff" as early as February, just 16 days after launch. At the time, the studio said it would "continue to innovate and support the game," but player numbers continued to decline and Highguard faced "mixed" user reviews, making a turnaround unlikely from the start.

"On behalf of the entire Wildlight team, we sincerely thank you for playing Highguard, supporting it, and being part of its story," concluded Wildlight.
