Bang & Olufsen boasts some of the most impressive speakers on the market, but the Beolab 90 series is arguably one of the most majestic models from this renowned manufacturer. Thanks to its unique design, this model transcends being a simple HiFi speaker and becomes a true work of art that can be displayed in your home. That's why the manufacturer offers its fortunate Beolab 90 buyers a range of finishes rarely seen on any other speaker. As mentioned earlier, these finishes transform the speaker into a piece of art.

Now, to celebrate its 100th anniversary, Bang & Olufsen is unveiling the final two versions in a total of five series: the Beolab 90 Monarch Edition and the Beolab 90 Zenith Edition. Following the Titan, Shadow, and Mirage models, these creations are transformed by sculpted wood, polished aluminum, and meticulously placed details that enhance the design language with texture and surface, creating a truly iconic speaker. Without a doubt, it's a feast for both the ears and the eyes.

Beolab 90 Monarch Edition: A Design Carved from Rosewood

According to Bang & Olufsen, the Beolab 90 Monarch Edition reflects the refinement of texture and the heritage of Danish furniture design. This version features rosewood lamellae (thin plates) that follow the contours of the aluminum case, creating a 360-degree rhythm reminiscent of classic fabric covers while adding texture and tactile sensation.

Six wood knots connect the lamellae, and a subtle light-colored wood stripe on the front knot adds depth and visual interest. The speaker features a smooth rosewood top frame and bottom base panel, which integrate the lamella pattern into a continuous sculptural ensemble.

The contrast between the warm rosewood and the ochre aluminum highlights the balance between natural and artificial materials. Additionally, a glimpse of the acoustic drivers behind the translucent fabric section showcases how functional and aesthetic layers seamlessly blend together.

The Beolab 90 Monarch Edition model, with its rhythm of lamellae and carefully placed wood knots, pays homage to the Danish craftsmanship heritage. Each element is designed to draw the eye, transforming the speaker into a captivating object both visually and acoustically.

Beolab 90 Zenith Edition: A Symphony in Pearl

The new Beolab 90 Zenith Edition is even more spectacular. Inspired by the expertise of Bang & Olufsen Atelier, thousands of aluminum spheres and a subtle mother-of-pearl inlay technique transform the iconic speaker into a shimmering, textured object.

Each of the six panels features 289 anodized aluminum spheres in seven custom colors inspired by pearls. These spheres create a sparkling and reflective surface that interacts with light and its surroundings. In contrast, the top aluminum casing is finished with a dark gray tone pearl anodization, inspired by seashells. Circular mother-of-pearl inlay matching the diameter of the aluminum spheres completes the speaker, adding complementary points of light to the overall composition.

The panels follow curves along the contours of the case to evoke the speaker's architectural form and integrate texture and function. Additionally, the polished aluminum crown and translucent fabric unify the expressive and tactile design of the speaker by balancing visual and acoustic layers.

The overlapping surfaces and the combination of glossy and matte finishes in the Beolab 90 Zenith Edition create a dynamic visual presence that captures light differently throughout the day, complementing the indoor acoustics. This transforms the device into a sensory experience.

So what about the price? This is where things get serious. As you know, Bang & Olufsen aims for the luxury market. Moreover, the Beolab 90 is one of their highest-end models. While the exact prices for the new Zenith and Monarch Editions are not yet known, it's worth mentioning that the official price for a pair of standard Beolab 90 speakers in black, aluminum, or oak wood finish is €167,200. So do your calculations beforehand.
