Razer Launches Pro Type Ergo Wireless Keyboard with AI and Space Bar Technology

Razer is expanding its extensive keyboard lineup by combining ergonomics, productivity, and performance in a split design. This product is not a limited edition release. Called 'Pro Type Ergo,' Razer's first split keyboard is currently available for $189.99 and features notable functions such as a central space bar key.

Almost every keyboard places the space bar in the center bottom. However, this model splits the space bar in half with a smaller space bar nestled between the two halves. Additionally, there are two 'B' keys, one on each side of the split design, for a total of two. What on earth is going on here? No, this isn't an April Fool's joke.

"The dual 'B' keys, dual space keys, and central backspace allow both thumbs to handle frequent actions more comfortably, reducing finger crossing and unnecessary movements. This is particularly useful for users who spend long hours writing, coding, or working on documents and spreadsheets," Razer explains.

There's even an FAQ section dedicated to the central space bar, which wasn't on my bucket list to read, but I'll check it out anyway.
This is actually a clever design and could potentially be useful once muscle memory adjusts. Of course, the downside is that retraining your brain to hit the backspace key in the center bottom of the keyboard might lead to unintentionally adding spaces to documents when typing on other keyboards.
Another unique feature is the AI aspect. After all, it's 2026, and AI reigns supreme.

"AI Prompt Master allows users to quickly access AI-powered tasks with a single key. Without constantly switching windows, users can summarize text, draft emails, or start research and brainstorming. By integrating AI prompts into the keyboard rather than a separate app flow, Pro Type Ergo positions AI as a workflow accelerator, helping users move faster while maintaining control over the final output," Razer says.
While Pro Type Ergo doesn't physically split completely in half like last year's ASUS ROG Falcata, its wave-like design is interesting. Before mechanical gaming keyboards became popular, I used to love Belkin's ErgoBoard as my main keyboard.

From afar, Laser's new product evokes a modern aesthetic with convenience features and RGB lighting (naturally), but it brings to mind an ergonomic board. However, this product doesn't feature mechanical decks and instead boasts ultra-slim, fingertip-shaped keycaps designed for extended work sessions, according to Laser. It utilizes scissor switches pentagraph keyboards.
"The subtle spherical concavity guides your fingertips into the correct position, enhancing comfort and accuracy. Internally, a noise-dampening layer and tuned stabilizers provide a quiet and restrained typing experience, making it ideal for home offices, open workspaces, and calls," Laser explains.
Other features include adjustable tilt, five dedicated macro keys, a dedicated mute button for the microphone, and a multi-function Razer Command Dial that can be fully customized through Laser Synapse utility.
Laser also highlights 5-way multi-device connectivity, which elegantly describes its ability to synchronize the keyboard via a 2.4GHz HyperSpeed dongle, three Bluetooth profiles, and USB-C for wired connections. When used wirelessly, Laser claims up to three months of battery life per charge, presumably with RGB lighting turned off.
