"Can I use the new AI feature?"…The reason why Samsung Galaxy users are furious
S26 'Call Screening' included…S25, Fold7 and other existing models excluded
Samsung Electronics is facing backlash from users as it does not provide the artificial intelligence (AI) function applied to its latest smartphones to flagship models released last year.
The core of this controversy is the 'Call Screening' feature included in the Galaxy S26 series.
This feature allows AI to answer calls from unknown numbers on behalf of the user, asking the caller's name and purpose. The information is then displayed in real-time as text, allowing users to decide whether to continue the call based on the content shown on the screen.
The problem is that this feature is only applied to the latest S26 model, and not supported by previous models such as the Galaxy S25 series, Fold7, and Flip7.
Samsung Electronics announced its position that it will provide the function through the One UI 8.5 update but will not apply it to existing flagship models. Controversy arose as high-priced devices released less than a year ago were excluded from the support target.
Samsung Electronics said, "The final update for the S25 series has not been decided yet," and added, "We are reviewing the possibility of adding various new features."
By the way, on iPhone, the Call Screening function is supported by all models (from iPhone 11) with iOS 26 applied.
It is said that Google Pixel has been supporting the same function on all models since 2020.
