Microsoft announced through its blog several major changes to be applied to Windows Update, including the ability to continue pausing Windows updates for up to 35 days at a time.

To give users control, Windows Update will add a setting that allows users to extend the update pause period as much as they want. Once you pause the Windows 11 update, you won't be bothered for 35 days, and this 35-day limit can be continuously extended as much as you want.
Since most updates are security-related and sometimes require urgent fixes, they eventually need to be installed, but Microsoft has now allowed users to decide when to install them themselves.
Microsoft's Aria Hanson explained in the blog that this change reflects feedback pointing out user frustration from updates installed at unwanted times and the lack of control over when updates occur.
