From now on, there will be no need to install separate viewer programs or download heavy attachments to check press releases from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Artificial Intelligence (AI) services will also be able to directly utilize official materials.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 27th that it will renovate the website's press release bulletin board and improve the method of document provision to guarantee citizens' right to know and improve the utilization of public information by AI services and search engines.
Until now, Ministry of the Interior and Safety press releases have been provided mainly as attachments in Hangeul (HWPX) or PDF format. As a result, it has been difficult to directly view the text in mobile environments such as smartphones, and separate viewer programs have often been necessary. Due to these characteristics, there have been continued concerns about limitations in accessibility for assistive technologies for people with disabilities, such as screen readers for the visually impaired.
Accordingly, the government will renovate the Ministry of the Interior and Safety website's press release bulletin board so that citizens can read and utilize the full text of press releases directly on the web. With this measure, citizens will be able to read the full text of press releases directly from website posts without installing separate programs or being restricted by operating systems.
Another change in the renovation is the provision of AI-friendly document formats. The ministry plans to support downloading in 'Markdown' format, a document format that is easy for both people and AI to understand. Markdown is a format where the structure of text, such as titles, body, and lists, is expressed consistently and clearly, and is optimized for search engines and AI services to systematically collect and learn from data. It is widely used on various platforms such as Wikipedia, Notion, and GitHub, and is broadly applied to the response formats of commercial AI services such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
