Google Reviewing Ads for Gemini...Competing with Nvidia Through Direct AI Chip Sales (Comprehensive Report 2)
Google announced it is reviewing the introduction of advertising to its artificial intelligence (AI) model Gemini in the long term.
Philip Schindler, Google's Chief Business Officer (CBO), said on the 29th (local time) during a conference call following Alphabet's first quarter earnings announcement, in response to the question "Do you have plans to add advertising to Gemini," "Advertising has always played an important role in expanding products to reach billions of users."
"Right now we are focusing on subscription services in the Gemini app," and "When the right time comes, we will share plans (related to advertising), but we won't rush."
If Google introduces advertising to Gemini, it would become the second example following OpenAI's ChatGPT, which displays ads to users on free and low-cost plans.
Meanwhile, Anthropic, a competitor of OpenAI, even released attack ads satirizing OpenAI's advertising policy and declared that they will not attach ads to AI.
