Samsung Electronics is halting sales of TVs and home appliances in the Chinese market and is beginning full-scale restructuring of its local business.
According to industry sources on June 6, Samsung Electronics recently informed local Chinese distribution channels and partners of its plan to suspend sales of TVs and home appliances.
However, mobile, semiconductor, and medical device businesses will be maintained.
Samsung Electronics plans to continue targeting the Chinese premium smartphone market with Galaxy AI and strengthen its local strategy by focusing on China-specific models such as 'Galaxy W Series'.
The company also plans to accelerate efforts to secure competitiveness in AI functions by expanding collaboration with AI companies in China.
Semiconductor production bases will be maintained.
The business community views the suspension of TV and home appliance sales in China as not just a regional strategy adjustment, but a signal for overall improvement of Samsung Electronics' home appliance business.
