Hisense Disrupts the Projector Market with New Vidda C5 Lineup Featuring 240Hz, 1ms, and Up to 5800 CVIA

Hisense and Vidda have just unveiled a new laser projector lineup in China.
To be honest, when one brand launches four models simultaneously and markets all of them as "premium," this lineup shows far more sophistication than the typical impression one gets. At least on paper, this isn't the usual product inflation where models differ only in name with little real distinction. Instead, it appears to be a well-structured lineup ranging from very serious specifications on the entry model to a top-tier model that aims to compete in the high-end league.
The new lineup is called Vidda C5 and comes in four models: C5 Pro Max, C5 Ultra, C5 Ultra Max, and C5 Master. The core idea is clear. Rather than remaining just a general projector for watching movies or dramas, they're creating much more complete equipment that also caters to users who want to seriously enjoy gaming. In fact, the most eye-catching aspect is precisely this point—the brand promises a 240Hz refresh rate, VRR (variable refresh rate), and just 1ms of input lag.
But they haven't focused solely on the image. Hisense and Vidda have also strengthened the sound department through an ambitious 2.1 channel system that far exceeds typical standards, and they've differentiated and improved brightness, contrast, optics, and connectivity according to model tier. In other words, they haven't simply increased CVIA numbers and raised prices. The C5 series makes it clear that premium projectors must now deliver significantly better performance in every aspect, not just display large screens.
Hisense Vidda C5: A New Laser Projector Lineup That Targets Both Movies and Gaming Simultaneously

The first characteristic this product line displays is that Vidda hasn't separated the profiles of cinephiles and gamers, but rather mixed both requirements into one recipe. All models come equipped with Hubble cinema lenses, VRR support, 240Hz compatibility, and 1ms of input lag. When you check this in the specifications, the interpretation becomes very clear. They want this projector to be equipment not just for watching a movie on Saturday night, but for genuinely enjoying a proper gaming session by connecting a console or PC.
Added to this is an integrated audio system with specifications set significantly higher than typical standards. All models across the lineup include a 2.1 channel set consisting of two 8W tweeters, two 10W full-range speakers, and one 20W subwoofer. In other words, this means it's not just about producing sound. Additionally, for some models, Harman JBL handled the tuning to enhance the product's completeness.
What's interesting is that the projector market is changing considerably. Just a few years ago, mentioning laser installation, Android operating system, and high lumen counts was sufficient. But now it's different. Users now demand higher actual brightness, better contrast, installation flexibility, superior sound, and even gaming capabilities. For this reason, the C5 lineup appears to be very well designed to match current trends, at least on paper.
C5 Pro Max, C5 Ultra, C5 Ultra Max, and C5 Master: Product Lineup with Substantial Differentiation
The most "affordable" model in the lineup is the Vidda C5 Pro Max. But despite being affordable, it probably won't be a particularly cheap price. Moreover, looking at the included specifications, it's hard to categorize as simply an entry-level option. It features the QuaLas42 dual laser system, 3200 CVIA brightness, uses a 0.47-inch DMD chip, and delivers a native contrast ratio of 5000:1. This is complemented by Wi-Fi 6, 3GB RAM, and 64GB of storage.
One step up is the C5 Ultra, and this is where it starts to become truly compelling. Here, Vidda introduces the new MCL3A laser system and bumps brightness up to 4400 CVIA, improves contrast to 6000:1, and adds Wi-Fi 7. The specifications include 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.
Next comes the high-end C5 Ultra Max. It adds a DMD chip with SST architecture and bumps brightness to 4700 CVIA, and boasts 2.1 audio tuned by Harman JBL. And at the pinnacle of the lineup sits the C5 Master. By combining MCL3A and QuaLas42 systems, it reaches 5800 CVIA, introduces a liquid cooling system, and achieves a native contrast ratio of 8000:1. It also comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Yes, the C5 Master is clearly the "beast" of this lineup, and the brand doesn't try to hide it.
Price, Launch Availability, and Why This Lineup Is Threatening Outside of China

In terms of price, the C5 Pro Max starts at 7,999 yuan, the C5 Ultra at 10,499 yuan, the C5 Ultra Max at 12,999 yuan, and the top-of-the-line model, the C5 Master, at 14,999 yuan. Applying the exchange rate, this translates to approximately $1,175, $1,455, $1,800, and $2,080 respectively. These are not mass-market prices, but they are also not projectors designed to compete in the lower market segment.
However, we have not yet been able to confirm whether there will be a high-end global release. This is what makes it interesting and questionable at the same time. On paper, the proposal seems very attractive, but it remains unknown whether these models will be released in Europe, and even more importantly, with what specifications and actual price.
Nevertheless, the interpretation is clear. Hisense has presented a very ambitious laser projector lineup with a strong common base and real differentiation between models. This is exactly what the market was asking for: higher brightness, deeper contrast ratio, better audio, stronger gaming performance, and a well-balanced product range. Now all that remains is to see the actual performance and measurements, and whether those CVIA figures really lead to overwhelming results, and how they perform with real content. But if Hisense aimed to deliver a powerful blow to the high-end home projection market, it has certainly found a very serious way to do so.
