SK Telecom will launch an integrated rate plan that allows users to use 5G and LTE without distinction. The release date is July 2nd. It is the second among telecommunications companies, following LG Uplus.
According to industry sources on the 21st, SK Telecom will suspend new subscriptions to existing rate plans from July 2nd as a preliminary step for the introduction of an integrated rate plan.
There are 67 discontinued rate plans, including '5GX Premium (Tving)'. Existing subscribers can still maintain their subscriptions after July 2nd, but they cannot rejoin if they change or cancel their rate plans after the revision.
The integrated rate plan is a new rate system that allows users to use data allowances and speeds without distinguishing between LTE and 5G.
The integrated rate plan will include a 400Kbps speed data safety option even in the 20,000 won range, and data, voice, and text benefits for specialized rate plan customers such as seniors and youth are expected to be significantly strengthened.
Previously, LG Uplus announced the launch of an integrated 5G·LTE rate plan on June 1st. The LG Uplus integrated rate plan includes applying a data safety option even to low-priced rate plans and strengthening voice and text benefits for seniors and youth.
An SK Telecom official said, "We are scheduled to launch the integrated rate plan on July 2nd" and added, "We will suspend new subscriptions to existing rate plans in connection with the launch of the integrated rate plan."
