First 27-Inch 5K WOLED and BFI Prototype Unveiled
OLED technology is advancing rapidly, and LG Display is showcasing next-generation OLED panels this week, including a 27-inch 5K model and black frame insertion (BFI) technology.
First, LG Display confirmed that it is the supplier of the 25-inch WOLED panel first featured in the Asus XG259QWPG Ace. Next year, Samsung Display's first 24-inch QD-OLED panel is expected to follow.
LG Display also highlighted its new 27-inch and 32-inch WOLED panels with RGB stripe pixels, both featuring 4K resolution. Check out the full list of all new OLED monitors unveiled at Computex 2026. The first 25-inch OLED monitor panel was manufactured by LG Display.

27-Inch 5K WOLED
At a Computex showcase timed with the event, LG Display unveiled its first 27-inch 5K resolution WOLED panel with a pixel density of 220 ppi. This panel also uses RGB stripe pixels and offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits peak brightness, and 250 nits full-screen brightness.
The company added that this panel is optimized not only for gaming but also for professional workflows such as photo editing, video production, and graphic design, providing print-level detail. However, it remains unclear when this panel will be launched in actual consumer monitors. This is the first 27-inch 5K WOLED monitor panel.

Samsung Display unveiled a 27-inch 5K QD-OLED panel in 2025, but it has yet to be launched as a consumer monitor.
With both major OLED panel manufacturers now showcasing these panels, it is clear that ultra-high resolution OLED monitors, currently the domain of LCD monitors, are getting closer.
BFI for OLED Displays
Some OLED TVs and monitors feature BFI functionality, which inserts black frames between actual frames to effectively reset the eye and reduce motion blur. However, at low refresh rates, BFI can cause noticeable flickering, as seen on all OLED TVs today.
LG previously offered a basic high-frequency 120Hz BFI mode on some OLED TVs, but this feature was later discontinued.
LG Display has not given up on BFI and is developing the technology for OLED monitor panels as demonstrated by its 27-inch 1440p 540Hz next-generation WOLED panel showcased at Computex. The company claims that this technology can overcome the limitations of graphics cards. However, it remains unclear whether or when it will be launched as an actual product. Most importantly, this technology requires a very high brightness level.

The prototype has a full-screen brightness of 330 nits and a peak brightness of 1500 nits, with the brightness roughly halved when BFI is applied. This is LG Display's next-generation 27-inch WOLED panel with BFI.
